Pokémon GO announces in-game Halloween event

Pokémon GO Halloween Event 2016

All month long we've been looking at the best Halloween updates and apps, and today Niantic Labs has announced their own candy-themed event for its popular title, Pokémon GO. Starting on October 26th, Pokémon GO players will earn double the amount of Candy every time they catch, hatch and transfer Pokémon. The first Pokémon GO in-game event will end on November 1st.

Caught Pokémon will earn trainers six Candies, or twice the normal amount, and the professor will handout an extra piece of candy whenever a Pokémon is transferred to him. In addition, Buddy Pokémon will "award four candies instead of the usual one," according to the press release.

Candy helps trainers to evolve or strengthen their Pokémon, so take advantage of the Halloween event as much as you can.

The official trailer also notes that select spooky Pokémon will appear more often during the month of October.

Pokémon GO is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
