The Apple TV 4th-generation can now be jailbroken. Devices running tvOS versions 9.1-10.1 are supported by the jailbreak tool LiberTV.
After the Apple TV is connected via USB to a computer, the LiberTV app can be installed using Cydia Impactor. Running the LiberTV app jailbreaks the device.

While most of the buzz surrounding Apple's media event this week circled around the new MacBook and its Touch Bar, there were some other very interesting tidbits that surfaced. One major development for Apple TV owners is the announcement of a new app: TV. Apple claims this app will "completely change" how you watch TV with your Apple devices. Apple seeks to do nothing less than completely integrate all digital content sources in one place, vastly simplifying the process of watching your content.

Apple has released a slew of firmware updates this week, including tvOS 9.2.2 for the Apple TV. While the 9.2.2 update does not include any of the new features that are coming with tvOS 10 this fall, the update is worth installing. Over the past two months, Apple has worked on many bug fixes, performance improvements, and security enhancements for the fourth-generation Apple TV.

Universal search on the fourth-generation Apple TV continues to improve. The latest enhancement brings multiple new channels into the mix, providing an easy way to find content anywhere with a single question to Siri. Nine new channels are taking advantage of the feature, including History, Food Network, Travel Channel, Lifetime, and A&E.
Looking for live TV on the Apple TV? Receiving live television broadcasts depends entirely on individual apps. Some networks provide access to live streaming in their tvOS apps, and others do not. In most cases, live streaming requires signing in with cable / satellite / FiOS credentials.
