iPad Users Are Discovering LTE Can be Costly

With the release of the 4G LTE iPad an LTE iPhone seems imminent, and new iPad owners are quickly learning about the pitfalls of fast wireless connections. The Wall Street Journal published a report about the responsibility that comes with 4G connectivity by profiling one man who blew through 2GB of his Verizon data plan while watching March Madness games.

Data Plans

"Two hours of college basketball—which he viewed mounted to his car dashboard and live at tournament games—had burned through his monthly wireless data allotment of two gigabytes. Now, to keep surfing the Web or watch more NCAA hoops over Verizon Wireless's 4G network, Mr. Wells will have to pay an extra $10 for every gigabyte above his current $30 subscription."

No Teardrop Design For the iPhone 5 in 2012?

iLounge is promising three new Apple products in 2012. According to their "most reliable source," the iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro will all be receiving redesigns next year. The next generation iPhone will not feature the rumored teardrop-design we were promised in 2011. Instead it will feature a 4-inch display, aluminum back and be 8mm longer than the current models. The new iPhone will be available sometime next summer.

Another "industry source," who claims to have handled an iPhone 5 prototype, confirmed it featured an aluminum back and larger screen. The scrapped iPhone 5 was also supposed to be equipped with a 10-megapixel camera and be available in various colors.

Rumor: iPhone 5 Delayed Until March 2012!

Just when I thought late October would be the last invented iPhone 5 launch date, KitGuru comes along and extends the possible release window to March 2012! According to the rumor mill, this means that the iPhone 5 could be launched sometime between late August and March of 2012. So basically, us tech bloggers have spent the last few months telling you that Apple will most likely release another phone after the iPhone 4, possibly sometime between today and the end of time. You're welcome!

On Friday morning, the Japanese website Kodawarisan announced that Apple's Fall Event would be held on September 7th. This event is normally reserved for iPod news, but Apple is expected to switch gears and announce their next-generation iPhone. However, KitGuru reports that a "slimmed down, cheap version of the iPhone" will be announced instead, and go on sale around October 1st. This supports the Wall Street Journal's latest report that a new iPhone will be available sometime this October.
