iOS App of the Week: The Creeps 2 and more

Cartoon Craft

It was a rough week for App of the Week. I could not find a standout app or game to award the prestigious honor of being called the best app of the week by iPhoneFAQ.org. I had intended to originally review Cartoon Craft, but there is a bug that will not let me finish the tutorial. This looked like it had potential to be a fun RTS/building title, but as of right now I cannot play the game.

Siri could play Spotify tracks in iOS 12

Spotify

Apple is opening the door for third-party music streaming apps such as Spotify to use Siri. Users of services other than Apple Music, such as Spotify or Pandora have dreamed of controlling playback with Siri for years. This becomes one step closer to reality thanks to something called Play Media being introduced to developers with iOS 12.

iOS App of the Week: Dungeon Crawlers

Dungeon Maker: Dark Lord

This week we are looking at three new dungeon crawlers released to the Apple App Store. Dungeon crawlers are typically fantasy RPG titles where the goal is to complete labyrinth-like environments while collecting loot and battling different types of enemies. Roguelike dungeon crawlers are a popular subgenre on the App Store. In roguelike adventures the dungeons, loot and enemies are randomly generated. This gives roguelike titles more replay value since players can experience a new adventure every time they play. Here are three popular dungeon crawlers availble now for the iPhone and iPad.

iOS App of the Week: Disney Heroes: Battle Mode

Disney Heroes: Battle Mode

Not all movie franchises can have big crossover events on the big screen like Marvel's Infinity War, but that's not stopping Disney from bringing its characters together on smaller devices. Disney has partnered with PerBlue Entertainment to launch Disney Heroes: Battle Mode. The action-packed RPG stars heroes from popular Disney and Pixar titles such as The Incredibles, Wreck-It Ralph, Toy Story, Zootopia and more.

Apple to launch TV app subscription service

Apple TV

Apple's long-rumored streaming television service has come one step closer to reality, according to a report from Bloomberg. Unlike earlier efforts to create a 25-channel streaming TV service in 2015, Apple is expected to deliver new services through its TV app. The TV app already offers a central place to find content from various networks on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV.
