Report: iPhone with stylus coming in 2019

Apple Pencil

Apple reportedly has engineers working on a stylus for the iPhone. Despite Steve Jobs' famous lines disparaging smartphones with a stylus ten years ago, times have changed. The iPad Pro supports Apple Pencil, and devices such as the Galaxy note come with the accessory. Should Apple launch an iPhone-compatible pencil, it wouldn't be available until 2019.

Korean report claims flexible iPhone coming in 2020

LG Flexible Display

In a recent interview with the Japanese fashion and design site Brutus Casa (via 9to5Mac), Apple’s design head Jony Ive explained that the iPhone X is the end of a long-term goal to design what he called a "single slab of glass." Ive also noted in the interview that the iPhone X is a "new chapter" for the iPhone and the "beginning of its development." Tech bloggers have already begun speculating what's next for the iPhone based on Ive's comments, and yesterday the first rumor of a flexible device started to spread. For years there has been talk about bendable screens and see-through smartphones, but the most likely scenario for the future of the iPhone is the development of more Face ID features. However, that hasn't stopped the Korean publication The Bell from claiming that Apple is working with LG to develop a foldable OLED panel.

Apple is expected to ditch the physical Home button found on all current iPhone models in favor of a digital button on the iPhone 8. The new Home button will reside at the bottom of the edge-to-edge OLED display of the next-generation model.

Report: Only 3-4 million iPhone 8 models will be ready to ship in September

iPhone 8 Rumor

Every year there seems to be rumors that the next-generation iPhone is suffering from supply chain delays or shortages, and today a report from the Digitimes claims that the iPhone 8 is no different. This time the finger has been pointed at Samsung who is supplying the OLED panels for the new device.

According to supply chain sources, there will only be around 3-4 million OLED iPhone models available when Apple announces the new handset in September. "It will be difficult for Apple to ship up to 50-60 million OLED-based new iPhones in 2017," the sources indicated.
