O2 Guru TV Helps iPhone Owners Get More From Their Phones

O2 recently launched a new YouTube channel, called O2 Guru TV, which is surprisingly chocked full of information on how O2 customers and other smartphone owners alike can get the most out of their devices.
The channel is an extension of a program O2 began earlier this year, through which they offer over 250 in-store "gurus" to provide expert instruction and advice to customers. The idea has had many comparisons drawn to Apple's Genius Bar program.

Many commonly experienced problems with the iPhone are addressed in detail, helping users put frustrating dilemmas behind them. With almost 100 videos dedicated to the iPhone, O2 Guru TV even offers detailed video instruction on specific iPhone apps, such as installing and setting up apps like Shazam and Photoshop Express. Have you ever wanted to use your iPhone as a mouse? O2's gurus have put together a video showing you how.

Apple Patents Wireless Digital Pens For the iPhone and iPad

Two patents filed by Apple suggest that the company is ready to test the waters of stylus type devices. The first product is a digital pen with a conductive heated tip for better interaction with the capacitive-sensors in Apple devices like the iPhone or iPad. It features a rechargeable battery and docking station that can connect to an iOS device.

The second, more interesting digital pen is the “communicating stylus,” a wireless pen that allows the user to send handwritten notes to an iPhone or iPad from across the room. The communicating stylus features accelerometers and wireless transmitters for sending position data to an iOS device. Users can doodle or take notes on their iPhone or iPad by writing in the air or using a whiteboard. Some speculate that Apple plans to introduce these new devices as an attempt to make their hardware more useful to students and teachers.

Will Sprint be the Next iPhone Carrier?

Every possible future iPhone scenario has already been theorized this year, but what about a new iPhone carrier? Starting tomorrow Sprint will be one of the last U.S. carriers to offer unlimited data plans, and with the rise of the Android Market, the days of Apple exclusivity looks to be coming to an end.

Analyst Shing Yin of Citadel Securities believes we will see an iPhone added to Sprint's arsenal by the 2011 holiday season. Out of all the analyst predictions and rumors this one seems quite plausible, however, there are no known talks between Apple and Sprint about an upcoming deal.

When asked about a possible future Apple/Sprint team-up, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said, “What is this — like the 55th time I’ve been asked that one? Something like that. And of course, we can’t comment on any potential discussions with any of our suppliers.”

Verizon Wireless: No More Unlimited Data Plans For iPhone Customers

Verizon spokeswoman Debra Lewis told Apple Insider that new smartphone customers will no longer be offered unlimited data plans starting Thursday, July 7.

New mobile customers will be able to enroll in Verizon's "usage-based" billing program. Current Verizon customers will not be affected by the change, and upgrade-eligible customers will be able to move to a new mobile device while retaining their plans.

Verizon Unlimted Data Plan

"We have lots of different ways for customers who may not be accustomed to this kind of stuff to check their usage in terms of data alerts, online tools, data calculators, things like that to help people decide what is the right plan for them," Lewis said.

Apple Insider reports that new customers, or current customers without a data plan, will have four options for "different capped monthly data plans: $10 for 75MB, $30 for 2GB, $50 for 5GB, and $80 for 10GB." Customers who exceed their capped plan will be charged $10 per gigabyte or $10 per 75MB on the entry-level plan.
