Apple Weekly News Roundup: iPad Multitasking, iPad Pro Prototype Surfaces, and More

There wasn't much terribly exciting news about any Apple products last week, but there were a few noteworthy items...

As we are constantly reminded by TV commercials for competing tablets, the iPad is lacking when it comes to multitasking. Rumor has it that Apple will remedy this with iOS 8. The iOS update, which will be unveiled at next month's WWDC, will allow users to run two apps simultaneously and allow apps to interact with each other.

Apple and Google have dropped their lawsuits against each other, and plan to work together to reform patent law. They will not, however, cross-license any patents.

Nintendo, in its ongoing quest for extinction, has requested the Game Boy emulator GBA4iOS be shut down and removed from the App Store via a DMCA notice. The company reiterated its policy that it won't distribute its games for any platform other than its own.

A photo of a possible iPad Pro prototype surfaced on Chinese site Weibo.com. The iPad Pro will supposedly have a 12.9" display, just slightly smaller than the 13" MacBook Air.

Apple restricted vacation time for its retail employees in Germany for the latter half of September, which strongly suggests that will be the iPhone 6 launch time. The last three iPhone launches have occurred in September, so this follows suit.
