Customizing the iOS 7 status bar is only a tweak away with StatusModifier. Those with jailbroken iPhones can install this free tweak for more control over exactly what information is displayed. Hiding items or displaying the amount of free system RAM can be accomplished using Settings -> StatusModifier.

Custom formatting can be created using the DateFormat Builder, which provides options such as displaying seconds with the current time, or the date. This is also where iOS available RAM can be selected by entering the letters FM (free memory). By default, the amount of free memory is updated in real time every second, with a slider making longer intervals possible.

One thing that hasn't changed much in iOS 7 is powering down the iPhone. Holding the sleep/wake button reveals a red slider with the text "slide to power off". Swiping from left to right will power down the device. Now thanks to developer HASHBANG Productions, additional sliders can be added to the power off display.

New sliders added by the free tweak RePower consist of a yellow "slide to reboot" slider and green "slide to respring". The options are especially useful for jailbreakers, since there are times when tweak settings require a respring, but not a full reboot. RePower also features some settings to customize its behavior.

iOS 7 changed the way names appear in Messages and the Mail app. First it only displays the first name of a contact in a conversation thread. This can be annoying for users who have more than one person with the same first name listed in their Contacts. You can restore the use of full names by navigating to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Short Name. From here you can disable Short Names by toggling the slider, or you can choose one of the other three options: First Name & Last Initial, First Initial & Last Name, Last Name Only.

iOS 7 also sometimes displays the nickname listed on a user's contact card. Most people gave themselves nicknames when Siri and the iPhone 4s were originally launched. If you told Siri to call you something ridiculous you may want to change your nickname by opening the Contacts app and locating your info. You can then tap Edit and change or remove your nickname.

Now that Mobile Safari on iOS 7 allows more than eight browser tabs to be open at once, neglected tabs can pile up fast. The typical procedure for closing an iOS Safari tab means individually deleting each tab to make room for more. For those who like efficiency, there's a shortcut that will close all of these tabs at once.

While this function is not technically part of Mobile Safari, it can be achieved by following a few short steps to bring about the same effect. First, open the Safari app in iOS 7 and tap the window icon located in the bottom right corner of the display. This will bring up all open browser tabs in a 3D view that can be scrolled up and down.
