Grand Theft Auto 3 Comes to the iPhone and iPad

Grand Theft Auto 3 is 10-years-old and Rockstar Games celebrated its anniversary by bringing the game to iOS devices on Thursday. Originally released for the Sony Playstation 2 console, Grand Theft Auto 3 is the second sequel in the wildly popular and controversial series that rocked the gaming world. The gameplay has been optimized for touch screen devices and features HD quality resolution and custom controls for the mobile platform. The app is $4.99 in the iTunes App store.

iMessage Security Flaw Allows Texts to Lost, Wiped iPhones

You might think that wiping your lost or stolen iOS device would prevent another party from receiving messages via iMessage on the wiped device. As it turns out, Apple will be doing some work to issue a security update in future iterations of iMessage.

iMessage security threat

Users have discovered through an unpleasant trial and error process that the only way to stop text messages coming in via the iMessage service is to change your Apple ID. Wiping the lost iPhone and deactivating the phone number does nothing to stop a thief from receiving and reading your iMessages. These texts will be delivered to your old iPhone as well as the new one you just purchased to replace the lost device.

Apple Releases iOS 5.1 Beta 2 to Developers

Apple has planted fake device listings like "iPad10,1" and "AppleTV8,3" in configuration files to throw off developers looking for future iOS devices in their new iOS 5.1 beta 2. Mark Gurman (via MacRumors) discovered that the devices listed in the file, USBDeviceConfiguration.plist, went from around two dozen to over 100 items since the last release.

iOS

Besides the amusing fake files, iOS 5.1 beta 2 hasn't revealed anything too interesting. There are a few new bug fixes and the ability to remove images from the iCloud Photo Stream. The previous iOS 5.1 beta featured a possible battery drain fix, and an inactive code in the Camera app that allows panoramic photos.
