As any photography hobbyist knows, slowing the shutter speed can produce some interesting effects. The technique is also useful in low light situations, to capture more light. The iOS app Slow Shutter! simulates this on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with a simple interface. Apple is running a promotion until March 28, offering free downloads of the app.

Normally, Slow Shutter! runs $1.99 on the App Store. In order to get a free copy, iOS users must redeem a gift code through the Apple Store app. The Apple Store app is free, and provides access to Apple products and mobile shopping directly on iOS devices. It is that time of year when every retailer is vying for your shopping dollars by offering tons of "holiday" shopping deals, and plenty have already announced current and upcoming sales on Apple products and accessories. For example, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Staples have all released previews of their Black Friday circulars with deals on iPhones, iPads and Beats products.

Walmart is offering select iPhone models at a discount plus giving away free gift cards with each purchase over its five day Black Friday event. Not every deal is available on every day, so you will want to check the Walmart Black Friday ad for your location. For example, the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad mini is $199 with a free $30 gift card during "Event #1" on Thursday, November 27.

Walmart has kicked off a 90 day fire sale for the iPhone 5c giving credence to previous rumors that the handset did not sell as well as Apple had hoped it would. The sale is also a sign that Apple is preparing to announce its next generation iPhone very soon.

The unapologetically plastic handset is now available for only $0.97 at Walmart retail locations. Walmart has also dropped the price of the iPhone 5s from $99 to $79. These prices are for the 16GB models and require a new two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or US Cellular. You can use Walmart's "Find a Store" feature to see if your local store is carrying the device.

As expected, retailers and mobile carriers are reducing the price of the latest generation Apple products in anticipation of the release of the iPhone 6 and second-generation iPad Air. Walmart got the ball rolling by permanently slashing the price of the iPhone 5c to $29, and the iPhone 5s to $99, and now Verizon Wireless is following suit.

Verizon customers can nab the 16GB iPhone 5c for only $99 when agreeing to a new two-year contract. The 50% off deal is available now available through VerizonWireless.com. This of course means you will be stuck with the iPhone 5s after the new iPhone 6 model is released in a few months.

The New York theater tickets app, TodayTix, has added a referral program for its members to earn credit towards Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Users of the free app can now navigate to the Refer & Save section under the Settings panel to get their personalized referral code to share with family and friends. You will receive a $10 credit when anyone uses your code at checkout. The new customer using the code will also receive $10 off their current order.

TodayTix is a free app that gives users 24-hour mobile access to last minute deals on Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Users can book tickets less than 30 seconds or up to 7 days in advance and receive them at the door right outside the theater before the show begins.
