Apple's iPhone 5s Ranks Third Most Popular Google Search of 2013

On Tuesday Google released its annual Year-End-Zeitgeist ("spirit of the time" from the German), in which they reflect upon the people, places and events of the year that garnered the world's attention. The Top Trending Searches ranking is the most significant of 1,000+ categories that draw on search data from 72 countries. This year's revealed the iPhone 5s as the third most popular global trending search of 2013.

Google Glass App Mysteriously Pulled From the Apple App Store

The Google Glass companion app MyGlass was briefly released for iOS devices on Tuesday, but it was mysteriously pulled a few hours later. Google eventually told The Verge it was removed so it could be re-released to "coincide with the latest monthly software update". MyGlass was originally only available on Android devices, and this was the first time it had been offered to iOS users.

The app allowed Google Glass owners to manage their device and get navigation directions from their iPhone. It also gave iPhone owners the ability to stream what they were seeing on Glass to their device's display.

Candy Crush Earns Top Spot as the Most Downloaded Free iOS App of 2013

Apple revealed today that King.com Limited's Candy Crush Saga was the most downloaded free app of the year for both the iPhone and iPad. The game was also the top grossing iPhone game in 2013, proving once again that in-app purchases fuel the App Store. Minecraft - Pocket Edition took the top paid app honors for both the iPhone and iPad.

As always, Apple also announced its picks for the best iPhone and iPad apps and games of the year. The language-learning app Duolingo was chosen as the best iPhone App of the Year, and Ridiculous Fishing: A Tale of Redemption earned Apple's pick as iPhone Game of the Year. Disney Animated and Frogland’s Badland took the respective honors for the iPad.

Analysts are Bullish on Apple Inc. (AAPL) Going into 2014

After having its strongest November performance ever and then reaching a 52 week high of $577.25 on Thursday, December 5, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) stocks came down a bit, ending last week at $554.43. Despite the drop, analysts remain bullish about the company's future.

According to The Motley Fool, Apple still has plenty of room to grow. Stock prices have risen 40% since June yet still remain 20% lower than last year's all time high. The company has also upgraded its product portfolio in recent months with the addition of the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. The 5s has been the best selling smartphone for all four major U.S. carriers in each of the past three months, while the 5c has held the second or third spot at each carrier. Additionally, the iPhone has enjoyed success in foreign markets recently, with the 5s, 5c and 5 taking three of the top four spots for global smartphone sales in October. The 5s and 5c are likely to launch on China Mobile this week, which should result in a surge in sales.

Beyoncé Becomes Fastest Selling Album on iTunes Store

Apple announced today that Beyoncé’s newest album has become the fastest selling studio release ever on the iTunes Store. The self-named album sold 828,773 copies in just its first three days while breaking first week album sales in the US. The album also earned the number one slot on the music charts in 104 countries, according to the Apple press release.

Beyoncé was released exclusively worldwide on the iTunes on December 13. This is the fifth solo release by the artist and her first "visual album," which features 14 new songs and 17 videos shot around the world. Beyoncé's last album"4" sold 310,000 copies in its debut week in July of 2011, according to Billboard.
