iPhone 3G Inventory Shrinking at AT&T, Vodafone

Vodafone Australia has officially been notified by its distributor of the iPhone 3G that the 16GB model is an EOL (end of life) product. Only a few weeks' supply is left and the model will be discontinued when these are sold.

Further signs point to the impending release of a next generation iPhone, possibly by July 17th. According to sources who have contacted the company, AT&T is drawing down current iPhone model inventories and has no plans to restock.

AT&T does have refurbished 3G iPhones for sale at a reduced price.

If Apple shows off the new iPhone as it did last year, the announcement could come on June 8th during the company's sold out Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Chinese mobile forums have recently described next generation iPhone processor upgrades as increasing speeds from 400MHz to 600MHz, and doubling RAM to 256MB. Storage space is expected to increase to 32GB with the new hardware.

Only 17 more days of rampant speculation left until the WWDC keynote speech!
