Thanks to iPhone Dev-Team the redsn0w jailbreak tool is updated to jailbreak the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS running iOS 5. This is a work in progress designed to help app developers update their products for the latest firmware. As such, Dev-Team considers redsn0w a beta release and warns early adopters there may be lingering bugs in the firmware.

Before you go ahead and read the tutorial, be aware this does not apply to the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. Jailbreak solutions for these two devices are under development and have not been released. When it comes to the iPhone 4 and 3GS, most devices will require a tethered jailbreak.

Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey raised a lot of eyebrows when he told IFTN.com he used an iPhone to film some scenes for The Avengers.

“The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand. On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will effect the look of the film."

The Avengers is Marvel Studios most ambitious film to date, rumored to have cost over $200 million. The studio probably wasn't very happy when their director of photography told the world it was filmed on a cell phone. McGarvey later clarified he only shot one mobile phone POV using an iPhone.

Every now and then you wish for something and you get it. That's essentially what is about to happen for me and a whole host of others who have been wanting more from iOS 5's Notification Center. Reports have indicated that Siri is capable of changing calendar appointments, writing text messages and sending emails, all without ever entering the passcode that normally protects your iPhone 4S.
