Modern Combat 5: Blackout Finally Gets a Release Date

Gameloft has confirmed that the long awaited Modern Combat 5: Blackout will be available for iOS and Android devices on July 24, 2014. The good news is the game will priced at $6.99 with no in-app purchases, but it will require an internet connection. Windows Phone owners will also have to wait a little longer than iOS and Android users for the game to be released.

In Modern Combat 5 players take the role of Phoenix, a counter-terrorism expert who gets caught up in a global conflict after his mission to transport WMDs in Venice, Italy goes wrong. The first person shooter promises to deliver plenty of advanced combat weaponry, a wide a range of "visually-stunning settings" and "thrilling action-packed combat sequences," according to Gameloft. The game will also feature both compact and dynamic single-player missions, a unified progression system and multiplayer mode.

Tim Cook Seeks New Board Members for Apple

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Tim Cook is "actively seeking" new members for the tech giant's board of directors.

The current board is aging and, as noted by WSJ, known for its loyalty to Steve Jobs, which could make things difficult for Cook moving forward. Refer a Friend to TodayTix and Receive $10 Credit Towards Already Discounted Broadway Tickets

The New York theater tickets app, TodayTix, has added a referral program for its members to earn credit towards Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Users of the free app can now navigate to the Refer & Save section under the Settings panel to get their personalized referral code to share with family and friends. You will receive a $10 credit when anyone uses your code at checkout. The new customer using the code will also receive $10 off their current order.

TodayTix is a free app that gives users 24-hour mobile access to last minute deals on Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Users can book tickets less than 30 seconds or up to 7 days in advance and receive them at the door right outside the theater before the show begins.

WSJ: iWatch and Larger iPhone Due This Fall

The Wall Street Journal is the latest outlet to throw its weight behind the latest Apple rumors claiming that the company will release both an iWatch and larger iPhone 6 this fall. The WSJ report comes two weeks after unidentified Bloomberg sources revealed that Apple was preparing to begin production on two larger iPhone models. However, the WSJ report only mentioned one iPhone model, not two.

The report also said "people familiar with the company’s plans" claim Apple is working on a watch "with advanced sensors to track a user’s fitness and health." Apple recently announced a new Health app that would collect data from third-party apps such as heart rate, calories burned an so on. It has been widely speculated that this app was created to be a companion to the rumored iWatch.

Google Play Music Gets Gapless Playback and Other Improvements

Google has updated its iOS music app to version 1.3.0.2190. The update adds the ability to listen to full albums or playlists with "gapless playback", meaning there are no breaks or silence between tracks. Users can also now view all of their downloaded music and download subscribed playlists for offline listening.

Google recently also added the ability to edit playlists directly on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and created a "Download Only" filter. Google Play Music is available to download on the Apple App Store. The free version of the app allows users to store up to 20,000 tracks of their own music online and create their own playlists.
