The jailbreak tweak Typecast brings a new level of utility to iOS messaging apps. Once installed, Typecast will display icons in multiple places to track when a message is actively being typed. The same treatment is given to read receipts, making the status easier to read and much more prominent. The best part is that Typecast works with three apps: the stock Messages app, Kik and WhatsApp.
First off, keeping track of multiple active conversations becomes easier with list view indicators. Typecast adds an active typing icon directly in the list of conversation threads when someone is composing a message. The second place this icon will appear is on the home screen, directly on the app icon. Last but not least, Typecast also puts this information on the status bar. This way the user always knows when a message is being composed.
Similarly, a read receipt can be posted to the status bar or included in the list view. This feature makes it clear exactly when a message thread has been received and viewed.
Typecast is available from the BigBoss repository on Cydia for $1.49. To start customizing iOS, click here for instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 8.4 with TaiG. Those with older firmware can use Pangu (iOS 7.1) or evasi0n 7 (iOS 7.0) to jailbreak.
