Europe not Enthused Over Apple Watch, Apple Pay

Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) highly anticipated wearable may face an uphill battle in Europe where, according to a survey, the populace doesn't appear to be interested in the Apple Watch, at least not nearly as much as Chinese and American consumers. The indifference likely stems from the fact that some of the most highly touted features of the device are old news in the Old World.

German market research group, GfK, conducted the survey, asking 1,000 smartphone owners from each market (Germany, UK, China, US, South Korea) about their interest in various smartwatch functions, assuming the device was completely secure.

Does the Apple Watch have a passcode / Touch ID?

UPDATE: There is a passcode setting in Watch OS. For example, if Apple Watch is removed from the user's wrist, Apple Pay will lock and require a passcode before purchases can be made. Stay tuned for more details.

Those interested in buying the Apple Watch may be wondering whether or not the device will include security features for privacy and to deter theft. The Apple Watch does not include Touch ID hardware to authenticate the user with a fingerprint. But will it be protected by a passcode like the iPhone?

Can I send messages with Apple Watch?

Not in the traditional sense. The display is simply too small to afford a keyboard, so you won't be able to type out messages. You will still, however, be able to respond to incoming messages, thanks to "Quick Board." Quick Board will analyze an incoming message and give you several options to respond with. For example, during the Apple Watch introduction, Kevin Lynch received a message from Johnny Ive asking, "Are you going with Love Shack or Wild Thing?" Quick Board analyzed the text and presented several tappable options: Love Shack, Wild Thing and Not sure.
