iOS 8 Beta 4 Adds Tips App and Other Improvments

Apple today seeded iOS 8 beta 4 to developers. The update brings the usual bug fixes, a few UI tweaks and the addition of Apple's Tips app. The new stock app currently offers six tips with tutorials, but Apple promises it will be updated with more tips each week.

The Tips app includes tutorials like, how to quickly respond to a notification, how to enable the "Hey, Siri" option, and how to send a spoken message. According to iDownloadblog, there is also an option to "Like" individual tips, but it "apparently doesn't do anything". You can also share you favorite tips on social media sites like Twitter or Facebook.

There's no shortage of quick reply jailbreak tweaks out there to help make messaging more efficient. The latest addition to the list, Interactive Message Notifications, takes its cues from the upcoming release of iOS 8. For those looking to sample quick reply directly from notification banners, this tweak is simplicity.

Once installed, a swipe down on the incoming message notification is all it takes to reply. The text input box appears right in the banner, along with the Send button for a quick response.

iOS 8 Users Can Recover Deleted Photos on Their iPhone

A few weeks have passed since Apple's iOS 8 preview giving developers plenty of time to dig around and discover new features in the beta. Several sources have found a "Recently Deleted” album in the Camera app. The folder allows users to access their deleted photos and recover images or videos they accidentally deleted.

The ability to hide individual photos was also previously discovered in the Photos app. Users can now tap and hold a thumbnail or image to bring up the "Hide Photo" option. So far you can only keep images hidden from the Moments, Collections and Years albums.

Ten iOS 8 Features Apple Didn't Mention at WWDC

As usual, Apple did not have enough time to discuss every new feature built into iOS 8 during its WWDC keynote on Monday. Some of the new features were quickly displayed on a slide near the end of the presentation, and others are still being discovered every day by users testing the iOS 8 beta. Here's a quick look at some of the smaller but useful improvements coming to your iPhone and iPad this fall.

Up until now the Notes app has been fairly simple, but iOS 8 is going to change all that by introducing rich text editing. This will allow you to bold, italicize, or underline your text when using writing a note in the app. iDownloadblog also claims users will be able to add images to their notes, but their source seems a bit dodgy.
