First Picture of a Jailbroken iPhone 5 Running Cydia

The well known jailbreak developer Chpwn (aka Grant Paul) tweeted a screenshot of Cydia running on an iPhone 5 the same day the device was released. While this is exciting news, it does not mean an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak is right around the corner. It took the jailbreaking community a couple of months to publicly release Absinthe 2.0, even though three different jailbreaks were reported to be working on the new iPad before its release.

This hopefully means the jailbreaking community is also on the road to jailbreakng other iDevices running iOS 6.

What iPhone 5 Case Are You Going to Buy? A Few Suggestions!

The iPhone 5 gives Apple fans the perfect excuse to splurge on a new iPhone case, and as usual there is no shortage in options. iPhoneFAQ has been recommending the invisibleSHEILD from Zagg since 2010, and there is already an iPhone 5 version of the popular screen protector available. The invisibleSHEILD isn't really an "iPhone case," but it's a great way to protect your device from scratches and damage. Just like the previous iPhone screen protectors, the iPhone 5 version comes with a lifetime guarantee, and the same high-tech scratch proof capabilities. You can head over to zagg.com to learn more about, or buy the invisibleSHEILD.

iPhone 5 Cases

If you're looking for a more traditional iPhone case OtterBox has released an iPhone 5 series. OtterBox is known for their high-quality smartphone cases. The iPhone 5 series offers the standard port protection with complete access to all functions, a polycarbonate skeleton, built-in screen protector, and a face-in belt clip holster for added protection. The OtterBox Defender Series for iPhone 5 is available from Amazon.com and BestBuy.com

iOS 6 Maps Loses Some Features Without Google

The early reviews are in, and Apple has some work to do on its new iOS 6 Maps application. Highly-touted features such as turn-by-turn directions are no doubt an upgrade, however there are other things that will be missed by fans of Google Maps. As pretty as those 3D Flyover graphics may look, basic functionality is said to have suffered, especially overseas.

iOS 6 maps features

Apple replaced the Google-based back end of the Maps application with its own alongside the launch of iOS 6. One big complaint from users in urban areas is the lack of transit directions. Instead of detailing options to take public transit, the new Maps simply offers a list of third-party transit apps installed on your device.

Kingdom Rush for the iPhone is Free for a Limited Time! [Tower Defense]

Kingdom Rush is free to download for one week starting today, September 19. This is one of the best tower defense games ever made, and I can't recommend it highly enough! In Kingdom Rush you must use 8 specialized towers with 18 tower abilities to defeat over 45 different enemies on many different levels. The fun achievements, challenging levels and extra game modes make this one of the most addicting action fantasy defense games I have ever played!

iPhone Games

Unlike other tower defense games, Kingdom Rush requires much more strategy than placing turrets and upgrading them. You must select the best combination of units and special abilities that will give you the greatest chance of defeating the many different enemies and their special powers. Kingdom Rush also requires good timing, and allows you to interact with your environment. It is one of the few games where you will want to conquer every level of difficulty and finish every achievement. Not only is the game fun and challenging, but the graphics are great, the sound effects are fun, and it offers repeat playability.

iOS 6 Now Available: Four New Useful Features!

iOS 6 is now available for download. The new update adds over 200 new features to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You can upgrade to iOS 6 by going to Settings > General > Software Update, or you can update via iTunes. Some of the more talked about and bigger upgrades include Apple's new 3D mapping technology, turn-by-turn navigation, the Passbook app, and some improvements to Siri. Here are four other smaller but helpful features you will also enjoy.

Dismiss call with message

iOS 6 allows you to be a little more polite when ignoring phone calls. Instead of sending someone directly to voicemail, you can now decline a call by using one of three default messages (I'll call you later, I'm on my way, What's up?), or by creating your own. Just swipe up from the display during an incoming call to access the new feature.

Do Not Disturb

Jailbreakers have had the option to add a "Do Not Disturb" toggle switch to their Settings for quite some time. Now non-jailbreakers can join the party with Apple's official version. The iOS 6 Do Not Disturb toggle allows users to switch off notifications during certain times. For example, you can stop receiving notifications while you're sleeping or while you're at work. This option also allows you to block incoming calls when you do not want to be disturbed. The "Do Not Disturb" switch is located under Settings.
