iPhone iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak Instructions (Absinthe 2.0)

The latest installment of Absinthe is here, making it possible to jailbreak most devices running iOS 5.1.1, including the new iPad. Jailbreaking with Absinthe 2.0 only takes a few minutes thanks to all of the hard work put in by the Chronic Dev Team. The software is available for both Mac OS X and Windows computers.

The latest jailbreak solution works with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation, original iPad, older iPad 2 models and iPad 3 running iOS 5.1.1. Support for newer iPad 2 models (iPad2,4) is in the works.

Yahoo Launches Axis Search with iPhone App

Yahoo has launched a new web browser for iOS devices named Axis. The app is part of its new one-step search experience, combining browsing with searching all in one place. Axis has tabs for quick switching between sites, and provides a built-in share button to Tweet, Pin or email web pages.

The entire experience can be synced with your desktop thanks to Axis plug-ins, available for all of the major web browsers. This means that when switching from your iPhone to another web browser you can resume from the same place effortlessly.

New Cydia Tweak Allows Siri to Perform Local Searches Outside of the U.S.

Here is a great Cydia add-on for international travelers. International Locations for Siri allows Siri to perform local searches outside of the U.S.. While Siri can speak several languages, and is also available in other countries, location based services are currently only available in the U.S..

I obviously can't test the tweak without leaving the country, but the $0.99 investment may be worth the risk to some frequent travelers. The add-on is available for download via the BigBoss repo. If you do not already have AssistantExtensions it will be installed when you download the tweak.

Stolen iPhone Adventures: Thief Uploads Cruise Pictures to Photo Stream

According to the interwebs (via Cult of Mac), a woman has been tracking her stolen iPhone via pictures that the thief has been taking with her phone.

Katy McCaffrey's iPhone was stolen on board the Disney Wonder cruiseline back in April. When the alleged thief named "Nelson" started using the phone to take pictures, they were uploaded to McCaffrey's Photo Stream. McCaffrey then started a public Facebook page entitled Stolen iPhone Adventures to keep track of Nelson's personal exploits.
