Apple launches new Twitter account to share tips, tricks and helpful information with customers

Apple today launched a new Twitter account to handle customer support queries and share tips and tricks with its followers. The account is verified by Twitter which signifies Apple is officially running the feed. The official description of @AppleSupport reads:

"We’re here to provide tips, tricks and helpful information when you need it most, and if you have a question, well - we're here to help with that too."

Apple dominates holidays with 49 percent of device activations

Mobile devices, such as smartphones, phablets and fitness trackers, were some of the most popular holiday gifts of 2015, according to Flurry Mobile. The Yahoo-owned analytics firm reported on Monday that device activation and app downloads shattered records with Apple leading the way.

Apple accounted for 49.1 percent of all devices activated during Christmas week. This is a slight decline from last year when Flurry Mobile estimated 51.3 percent of mobile devices activated throughout the holidays belonged to the iPhone-maker. Samsung nabbed 19.8 percent of the Christmas week activations and Nokia, LG and Xiaomi were left fighting over the scraps at 2 percent, 1.7 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively.

Although Apple has not yet officially announced an Apple Watch 2, a report last week from Quanta Computer (Taiwanese manufacturer of the current Apple Watch) confirms that the next generation Apple Watch is in development and slated for an initial release in June 2016. The new Apple Watch will likely have a face-time camera, an improved battery and more capabilities when it isn't tethered to an iPhone.

The fourth generation Apple TV will go on sale on Monday October 26.

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) last week released updates for iOS, OSX and WatchOS. The iOS 9.1 update, which became available on Wednesday, mostly deals with bugs and stability issues, but also includes over 150 new emoji characters with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emojis. New emojis include a unicorn, a burrito, a middle finger and what looks to be a guy levitating. OSX 10.11.1 and WatchOS 2.0.1 add the new emojis as well, and also include performance improvements and bug fixes.
