iPhone 4: Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Coming Soon

Dev-Team are in the final days of developing the next jailbreak solution upgrade for iPhone 4 users running iOS 4.2.1. Release could even happen this week if recent Twitter activity from team members is to be believed. Most recently MuscleNerd announced that "it’ll be here by Xmas (not because we’re sitting waiting for Xmas, but because it’s achievable deadline)" when asked about an untethered jailbreak via Twitter.

Although he has since removed the post, an earlier message from comex pointed to a release before the Christmas holiday. When asked "I want a 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak for christmas :P" by another Twitter user, comex replied, "you’ll get it."

iPhone 5 Could Feature Free GPS Navigation

More evidence has surfaced that Apple is working on navigation software for the next-generation iPhone. The company recently acquired online mapping company Poly9. This is not the first tech company specializing in mapping to be picked up by Apple.

Placebase, a mapping services company was also bought by Apple in 2009. Speculation is rampant that Apple may integrate both companies' technology in a new mapping and/or navigation app for the iPhone 5. Google maps are currently featured in iOS products, but the relationship between Google and Apple has been rocky lately. Google has also launched its own competing free GPS navigation app for Android platforms.

Sony Launches Official PlayStation iPhone App

Pretty soon, PlayStation devotees around the world will be able to explore all things PlayStation using Sony's official iOS application. Running on iOS 4 or later, the app has already been released in selected European countries. The app will roll out to other countries soon.

Launched so far in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK, Sony's PlayStation app makes it possible to access the PlayStation Network. Users can see their trophies and whether or not their gaming friends are online.
