Apple introduced a more theatrical option for Apple TV owners in tvOS 10 called Dark Mode. Instead of the normal light grey interface, this provides a different flavor for night viewing or those who prefer this look. The color change affects tvOS throughout the system menus and within particular apps. Currently there is no way to make Dark Mode switch on automatically at sunset or a specific time.

Noticed the home button on your Apple TV doesn't go to home anymore? Once updated to tvOS 10.1, the default behavior of the home button on Siri Remote changes automatically. Instead of returning to the home screen, the home button opens the TV app. Apple introduced the TV app to help unify all of the different streaming services and media libraries in one place.

One of the key advantages to Apple TV for iPhone owners is AirPlay. The other shoe has finally dropped. This week Apple officially pulled the third-generation Apple TV from its stores. Previously, the Apple Store online gave consumers an option to purchase the older model set top box for $69 and even compare them. Now the Apple TV 4G with Siri Remote is the only version available, in storage capacities of 32 GB or 64 GB priced at $149 or $199 respectively.

The wait is over for Apple TV owners looking forward to a new remote control option. The official Apple TV Remote app has been released by Apple after being revealed earlier this year. Once installed, any compatible iOS device will function as a remote control for second, third and fourth-generation Apple TV set-top boxes. Not only does the app simplify text entry with a keyboard for search fields, it offers full control of media playback.
