Absinthe Co-Creator Not Working on iOS 6 Jailbreak

Absinthe co-creator pod2g dropped some disappointing news on the jailbreaking community on Tuesday. The iOS hacker announced he's not working on a jailbreak for iOS 6. Pod2g is mostly responsible for the last untethered jailbreak most jailbreakers are currently using today.

Pod2g's announcement doesn't mean a new jailbreak is not in the works. Another iOS hacker known as Chpwn, tweeted an image of a jailbroken iPhone 5 with Cydia installed over the weekend. This is a good sign that a public iOS 6 jailbreak could be available in a few months.

Google in no Rush to Create Maps App for Apple's App Store

Google is in no rush to create a standalone Maps app for the Apple App Store, said Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.

Apple replaced the Google Maps app with its own mapping service with the launch of iOS 6. iPhone 5 owners and users who upgraded their devices have complained that Apple's new map service features too many geographical errors, and is missing many of the Google Maps features that so many iOS users enjoyed.

Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt told a small group of reporters in Tokyo that he can't force Apple to use Google's mapping services.

"We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?" said Schmidt. "What were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It's their call."

More iPhone 5 and iOS 6 Surprises Come to Light

With the iPhone 5 rumor mill going crazy, it's easy to think that all of the hardware and software details have already been revealed. In reality, it's not until devices start getting into the hands of everyday users that some surprises crop up. For all of the rumored features that don't come true (like a totally waterproof iPhone 5, for example) there are always some unexpected positives that come our way.

For one, even though the iPhone 5 camera has the same basic specifications as the previous model, low-light photo quality is superior. Video quality comparisons have also shown the iPhone 5 camera to be a significant step up over the iPhone 4S. Of course, these reports combined with the fact that the front-facing FaceTime camera is now HD means imaging has taken another step forward on the iPhone 5.

How do I reply with a message when declining a call?

iOS 6 added the option to decline an incoming call with a message instead of just sending the person to voicemail. To access the three default messages (I'll call you later, I'm on my way, What's up?) just swipe up on your display when you receive a call. You can then select your reply from the three default options. You can also create your own customized responses if your do not like the available choices.
