Price increase coming to Apple Music and other services

Apple has begun warning subscribers that access to its services will soon increase in cost. Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One subscribers are receiving emails a month in advance of price increases, giving them time to continue or cancel their automatically renewed subscriptions. Price increases range from $1 per month to $3 per month for some family plans.

The silver lining is that Apple TV+ now offers more original content than ever, and higher licensing costs for Apple Music means artists should receive a larger slice of the profits.

Apple rolls out iOS 16.1 iPhone update

The latest slew of improvements, bug fixes, and new features was delivered to users this week. Apple rolled out iOS 16.1 to compatible devices, which can be installed directly on the iPhone using Settings -> General -> Software Update. There must be enough free storage on your iPhone to update, and the iPhone should be charging with over 50 percent battery power to start the process.

Apple introduced several new products this week via press release, skipping a full-on October keynote event. The next generation iPad Pro was joined by the 10th generation iPad, and new Apple TV hardware. Interestingly, all of the products revealed this month feature a USB-C port instead of Apple's own Lightning connector.

The Apple Music app has arrived in the Microsoft Store for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Now Xbox users can try a one-month free trial of Apple Music directly on their game console, or log into their accounts to stream millions of songs. Apple Music subscriptions are completely ad-free and available across various devices.
