What's new about Apple Music in iOS 10

Apple Music iOS 10

One of the biggest changes in iOS 10 besides all the new messaging features is the redesigned Music app. Apple has created a simpler interface in an attempt to make Apple Music easier to use and songs easier to find. The app has larger fonts and bold titles with easy to understand tabs such as Library, Radio and Search. What makes Apple Music better than before is the ability to easily find your own music in the app.

Apple Music was met with criticism after the company redesigned the app and launched its own music streaming service in 2015. iOS users were confused on how to access music they had previously purchased through iTunes and how to listen to already existing playlists. The redesigned app in iOS 10 puts your music front and center in the easy to use Library section. The Artists tab looks like a Contacts page for musicians with an alphabetized list and easy to identify image icons.

iOS Apps(s) of the Week: Ghostbusters, Salads and more

Salad Shake

There were a lot of new apps released to the App Store this week making it hard to pick just one App of the Week. We originally selected Salad Shake, but the healthy eating app was overshawdowed by big releases from Activision and Warner Bros.. Salad Shake is a simple app that is capable of generating billions of unique salad recipes. Users can use the app to randomly create salads from a database of 116 ingredients.

Salad Shake is really simple to use. Just choose how many ingredients you want in your salad, then shake your iPhone until the cat chef creates a new recipe for you. You can keep track of all the new ingredients you have unlocked, save your favorite salads and share them with your friends and family. Salad Shake is a fun way to come up with new ideas you would have never thought up on your own. It is available now on the App Store for $0.99.

Pokémon Go having full access to Google accounts was a mistake, fix coming soon

Pokémon Go Security

Update: Pokémon Go has been updated to version 1.0.1 with security fixes.

  • Trainers do not to have to enter their username and password repeatedly after a force logout.
  • Added stability to Pokémon Trainer Club account log-in process.
  • Resolved issues causing crashes.
  • Fixed Google account scope.

The internet blew up on Monday after it was discovered that some Pokémon GO players had unknowingly granted the game's developer Niantic full access to their Google accounts. Signing up for the game using your Google profile grants Nintanic permission to view and modify all the information stored in your account, including your Gmail and Google Drive documents. Users can only sign up to Pokémon GO through Google or with an existing Pokémon Trainer account, which means Niantic has access to a lot of Google profiles.
