In mid March, AT&T held a short two-day sale on 8GB refurbished iPhones at a low price of $249, hoping to attract new customers with the luster of an affordable iPhone. It worked swimmingly, with the available phones selling out in under 24 hours. By day two, bargain iPhone hopefuls were greeted by an offer for the full price, factory fresh iPhone instead of the reduced price refurbs.

Well, a couple months later, AT&T is back at it again. While stock is available during the next two days, AT&T will be selling the 8GB iPhone for the same price as in March - $249. According to a recent post, Engadget has it "on authority" that the 3G iPhone is already in the hands of a few privileged beta testers and is undergoing trials for a possible release come July 2008. Previous rumors have suggested that the second generation iPhone is scheduled for a June 2008 release, so this falls roughly in line with previous indications.

Though the Windows version of Pwnage, WinPwn, was originally slated for release shortly after the Mac OS X version became available on April 3rd, WinPwn has nevertheless been released and is now available. Despite their oh-so-clever April Fools' joke which suggested the DevTeam had been bought out and that Pwnage would not be released, nary a few days later, the iPhone DevTeam has released the OS X version of the highly anticipated one-time jailbreaking, unlocking, and more tool for the Apple iPhone.

Earlier today, iPhoneFAQ reported on the delayed release of the highly anticipated iPhone tool named "Pwnage", which was supposedly poised to bring about a new era in iPhone hacking/jailbreaking/whathaveyou tools. However, according to a recent press release published on the iPhone DevTeam's website, not only will Pwnage not be released, but the iPhone DevTeam has ceased all activity in the iPhone development community -- both a result of a buyout offer from an unnamed source.

Unlike other jailbreak solutions, which require users to restore and re-jailbreak and/or unlock their iPhones with each subsequent iPhone firmware release, Pwnage was touted to allow an individual to modify their iPhone only once with Pwnage, then subsequently perform normal iTunes updates while keeping the iPhone in a jailbroken/open state. As mentioned above, the release of Pwnage was expected over the weekend, but failed to come. The iPhone DevTeam updated their website on March 30th indicating tha the release of Pwnage would be delayed, but would be coming "sometime this week".
