Twitter has silently joined the collection of iOS apps with Peek and Pop gestures. Now iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners can use 3D Touch to interact with Twitter version 6.54 and later. While the official update notes simply say "A few minor updates that you didn’t even know you needed," the new gestures have been added throughout the app. Previously, Twitter only offered few Quick Actions from its home screen icon.
The 3D Touch feature of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, while not earth-shattering by any stretch, is designed to streamline everyday use of both native and third party apps. In some cases it does the job well, in others it seems like a waste. As such, some people are enthusiasts while others seem to mostly ignore it. In either case, it is likely that many simply aren't aware of all of its capabilities, which are growing with every iOS update (several were added in the recent iOS 9.3 release).
iOS 9.3 is just around the corner and it will introduce several new features such as Nightshift and secure Notes, as well as some improvements to CarPlay. There will be plenty of bug fixes and smaller improvements as usual, among them will be several new 3D Touch shortcuts for some of the stock apps that should make using them a bit simpler.
Netflix continues to improve its iOS app, this time with version 8.0.0 hot off the presses. The latest brings 3D Touch support to the browsing menu, with show information accessible via Peek and Pop gestures. While Netflix does not have any Quick Actions available from the home screen, iPhone 6s users will enjoy the enhancements to browsing content. In addition to the requisite performance improvements, Netflix developers have added several new features.
The jailbreak tweak 3D Touch Notifications offers a new way to interact with iOS notifications from the Notification Center or lock screen. Once installed, peek and pop on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus can be accessed from the Notification Center just like native 3D Touch. A press will preview the notification contents, and a deep press opens the app.
