The first official public beta of Apple Music on Sonos is now available for owners of Sonos wireless speakers. This marks the first time that Apple's new music streaming service can be used as a third-party application on a non-mobile device. Apple Music on Sonos will also replace the Beats streaming option currently offered on Sonos products.

For any Beats Music users who haven't migrated their music, preferences, playlists, and other content to Apple Music, time is running out. Apple announced a deadline of January 19, 2016, after which Beats Music account information will be deleted. Beats Music service was replaced by Apple Music and officially went off the air on November 30.

If you signed up for the free Apple Music trial on or around June 30th then it is about to expire. The free trial period is only 3 months long and users must now decide if they want to pay for the service or use the limited free tier option. Apple offers two payment plans -- a $9.99 per month single user option, or a $14.99 per month family option. The free option gives users access to Beats 1 radio, Apple Music radio stations and artist feeds on Connect. Free users will not be able to enjoy unlimited skips or add Apple Music content to their library for offline listening. You can see a complete list of free and paid features here.

It wasn't too long ago that music fans were trading cassette tapes of their favorite tracks. The days of manually dubbing songs and writing artist information on the tiny insert of a cassette case may be long gone. Despite this, the concept of gifting a custom album could return with a vengance if Apple implements their patent titled Digital Mixed Tapes.
