Now that iPhone SE has been available for a few weeks the Apple rumor mill has turned its attention to the iPhone 7. The next-generation Apple handset is not expected to include any major new features, but recent reports have suggested that the new device will be equipped with a Smart Connector. The Smart Connector was first introduced on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro as an easier and quicker way to transfer both data and power from the new tablet to accessories, like the Smart Keyboard. The newly released 9.7-inch iPad Pro was the second device to feature the new charging option, but a recent report from Japanese site Mac Otakara claims Apple has decided not to include on its next smartphone.

Opera Software ASA, makers of the Opera web browser have released a completely free and unlimited iPhone VPN solution. Opera VPN makes it possible to change your virtual location, which can unblock content and prevent trackers from following your web browsing. Typically, using unlimited data over a VPN service requires a subscription cost. Opera VPN seeks to change this model.

Apple TV owners and others looking for live TV channels will have more options next year. Hulu and YouTube have announced plans to launch streaming bundles for a monthly subscription. Speaking of monthly subscriptions, Apple will reveal a revamped Apple Music at WWDC this year in a bid to improve the service. Apple is set to roll out a new discount program for Apple Music. Students enrolled in eligible colleges or universities can now get half off the monthly subscription price. With the discount, membership for students in the US comes to $4.99 per month instead of the usual $9.99. Apple Music offers streaming of "just about every song ever recorded" along with expert recommendations and unlimited radio play.

Apple will have some competition if the company continues to pursue a live TV channel package for the Apple TV. Both Hulu and YouTube have announced plans to launch streaming TV services as soon as next year. For its part, Apple has been rumored to be working on content deals for some time. A quality bundle of 25 channels was slated to arrive for monthly subscription in November 2015, however subsequent reports indicate Apple's plans have been delayed.
