One of the great features of iOS 11 and later is the Files app. Saving and browsing files directly on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch now has native support. Not only can files be stored locally on the device, but iOS can take advantage of cloud-based storage solutions such as iCloud or Dropbox. Individual apps can even be configured to use different locations for file storage by default.

If you have updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 11, you may have noticed that the new Control Center toggles for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi don't fully turn off either service. If you turn them off you will disconnect from any devices that your iPhone is connected to, like AirPods, heart rate monitors, wireless speakers, or other accessories, but both services will remain on. This wasn't the case with iOS 10, where both could be fully disabled from the Control Center.

Facebook has worked hard to force iPhone owners to install their messaging app. First they blocked private messages in their main app, then they blocked them on their mobile website. This forced most users who wanted to communicate with their friends and family via Facebook to install the Messenger app in addition to the main Facebook app. Unfortunately all Facebook apps are known to be both a battery drain and storage hogs, and most iPhone owners would be better off without them.

Whether they actually want to be helpful beta testers or they just can't wait to see all the newest iOS features, many iPhone and iPad users have joined the Apple Beta Software Program, which allows for early access to new iOS versions.

The 32-bit apocalypse is right around the corner. In case you missed the memo, Apple will stop supporting 32-bit apps with the release of iOS 11. This means 32-bit apps will not open on devices running iOS 11 or later. Instead users will see a pop-up informing them that the app needs to be updated to 64-bit for it to work on their device.
While most apps will not be affected, and some developers have promised to issue updates, other developers like Plants vs Zombies creator PopCap have announced they will be pulling older titles from the App Store. Apps deleted from the App Store will still appear on your device however, so you may want to check which ones will become useless in a few weeks when Apple is expected to launch iOS 11.
