iPhone speaker suddenly not working? A small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models may experience a receiver module failure, leading to sound not working during phone calls. These "no sound" issues are covered under a special service program launched by Apple this summer. iPhone Pro Max and iPhone mini models are not affected by the problem.

Apple now offers its official MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12. The accessory clicks onto the magnetic back of the iPhone and provides extra power, much like the earlier Smart Battery Case. When connected, the MagSafe battery delivers information via the iOS Battery widget.

The specs haven't changed, but Apple has moved closer to completing the rainbow with its iPhone 12 lineup. Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are now available in a "stunning" purple finish. Apple also launched a new MagSafe Leather Case, and a Leather Sleeve. Colors for these MagSafe accessories include Amethyst, Cantaloupe, Capri Blue, or Pistachio. Apple showed off the latest colorways at its "Spring Loaded" special media event.

People with implanted pacemakers and defibrillators are being warned to keep MagSafe iPhones and accessories away from their medical devices. Cardiologists at the Henry Ford Heart and Vascular Institute have tested the effect of an iPhone 12 Pro passing over the chest of a patient. Reporting on the results, Dr. Gurjit Singh explained that the patient's defibrillator was temporarily deactivated by the MagSafe magnet inside the iPhone.
