Report: Apple Not Working on iPhone Nano

Contrary to recent reports from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, new information uncovered by the New York Times indicates that Apple is not developing a smaller iPhone. Anonymous sources that were allegedly briefed on the matter claim that Apple is considering offering a cheaper iPhone, but will not change its size.

The iPhone 5 is expected to debut this summer, and rumors have surfaced that Apple is experimenting with different form factors and even a physical keyboard. Although unlikely, these possible scenarios show how Apple is coming under pressure from a variety of Android handsets in the works. The New York Times insists that Apple has no such plans, and will produce an iPhone 5 that is similar in size to the current iPhone 4.

One key advantage of using the Pwnage Tool will appeal to unlockers, as these individuals can safely restore to a custom 4.2.1 IPSW while keeping their current baseband and unlock. Two problems that were reported with the GreenPois0n jailbreak have also been fixed, including iBooks not opening as well as Wi-Fi issues on the Apple TV 2.

iPhone 5 Getting Larger Screen, A5 Processor?

A new report from DigiTimes states that Apple will release the iPhone 5 with a larger 4-inch display. Current and past iPhone models have always had 3.5-inch screens. According to the report, the move to a larger screen will help the iPhone compete against larger Android smartphone displays.

The possibility of a larger iPhone 5 comes hot on the heels of earlier news pointing towards a smaller, cheaper iPhone nano that would also come to consumers in summer 2011. If Apple does diversify its line of smartphones, it would be further filling the gap between the current iPhone and the 9.7-inch iPad tablet.

Verizon iPhone 4 Has Conference Calling Limitations

Several differences between the Verizon and AT&T iPhone 4 have already been revealed, including changes in the antenna design and other components. What might surprise some people are actual differences in calling capabilities between the two devices. It's not clear whether or not these differences in functionality are due to Verizon's network technology or some other reason, however business users will especially be interested in these calling limitations.

Unlike the AT&T iPhone 4 pictured at left, the Verizon iPhone 4 doesn't allow users to swap between calls on hold when adding calls to a conference. In fact, both calls pictured here are simultaneously connected and must be hung up together on the Verizon iPhone. In contrast, the AT&T user can switch between calls or join them together to create a conference call.

Smaller, Cheaper iPhone Coming Summer 2011

Just the other day, Bloomberg reported on the long-anticipated iPhone nano, a smaller iPhone in the works at Apple. Now the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that such a device is in development and should see release this summer. According to the report, the smaller iPhone will be around half the size of the current iPhone 4.
