60beat's GamePad Controller Turns Your iPhone and iPad Into a Gaming Console

The iOS accessory company 60beat has released a new gaming controller for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The $50 GamePad allows you to use a physical controller instead of the annoying onscreen controls of iOS games. Unfortunately it only works with two titles (Bugdom 2 and Aftermath) right now, but I assume there will be more GamePad compatible games in the future.

The GamePad is a great accessory if you enjoy playing games on your iPad at home, but I doubt anyone is going to want to lug this thing around. It resembles a PS3 controller with dual analog joysticks and 8 action buttons. There is no Bluetooth wireless option. The GamePad connects to your headphone jack with a 4 foot long cable. That's a lot to take on the bus, but maybe not such a bad idea for kids on long car rides. Especially since it doesn't require any batteries.

Grand Theft Auto 3 Comes to the iPhone and iPad

Grand Theft Auto 3 is 10-years-old and Rockstar Games celebrated its anniversary by bringing the game to iOS devices on Thursday. Originally released for the Sony Playstation 2 console, Grand Theft Auto 3 is the second sequel in the wildly popular and controversial series that rocked the gaming world. You can now revisit Liberty City on your iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch and the iPad.

The gameplay has been optimized for touch screen devices and features HD quality resolution and custom controls for the mobile platform. The app is $4.99 in the iTunes App store.

Angry Birds Celebrates 2 Years With New iOS Update

Angry Birds fans and newcomers alike can now enjoy version 2.0 of the game on any Apple device running iOS 3.0 or later. Rovio has launched the latest update to the ever-popular game to celebrate its 2nd birthday. Angry Birds has been the number one paid seller in the App Store all over the world, and continues to bring new levels into play.

Angry Birds 2.0

Angry Birds 2.0 adds 15 entirely new levels with a birthday cake theme to celebrate the anniversary, bringing the total number of levels available to a whopping 300. Not only this, but all episodes are unlocked in the new Angry Birds, so you can skip ahead and start with the first level on any episode at any time regardless of your progress.

New Zombie App 'Infected' Brings a Fun Twist to the Tower Defense Genre

After a long wait for the disappointing Last Stand 3, I've been desperately trying to find a fun and addictive new free zombie game. I originally dismissed Zombie Lane as a lame Facebook app that forces you to spend money to play, but it has grown on me over the last week (especially after the Christmas update which added new missions and stuff to buy). The only problem is Zombie Lane is not the best time passer. It's a great game to have on your phone for random bits of procrastination, but having to wait five minutes to perform one task can get kind of tedious.

Free

Infected is more of the fast paced kind of game I've been looking for. It's a fun twist on the tower defense genre where you use police officers as torrents to defend citizens from zombies. The app can even access your Facebook friends turning them into the helpless victims. Like any tower defense game you can upgrade your torrents, buy better armed police agents, and use random weapons to bomb zombie hordes. The game has a good mix of free upgrades and features an online multi-player mode.

iPhone Gaming Accessory iControlPad Has Arrived

We've been watching the iControlPad since it was first announced as a prototype in 2008. Now thanks to ThinkGeek this gaming accessory for the iPhone is finally available! The iControlPad has gone through several redesigns since its conception but the final product remains a Bluetooth-connected physical control pad for gaming.
